Which Way Seattle? Series - The State of Black Arts
Which Way Seattle? is an ongoing series of civic dialogues about local and political affairs that directly impact Seattle's African-American community. This installment of Which Way Seattle? will address the current climate for African-American arts institutions and individual artists. From theatre to jazz, African-Americans have a long history of enriching the cultural landscape of Seattle.
This legacy is being continued today with new and developing African-American artists and organizations. Join moderator Vivian Phillips, Arts Consultant and Producer and panelists Douglas Q. Barnett, Founder Black Arts/West, Valerie Curtis Newton, Artistic Director of The Hansberry Project, Carver Gayton, Chief of Operation at The Northwest African-American Museum, Doreen Mitchum, Funding Programs 4Culture, and artist Sultan Mohammad and get a glimpse of the Black Arts Renaissance in Seattle.
