Tyrone Wells is a singer/songwriter in the folk-pop genre from Spokane, Washington. His songs have been featured in television shows (Intervention, Grey's Anatomy, Rescue Me, One Tree Hill, North Shore, What About Brian, Numb3rs, The Mountain, Windfall, Wildfire, Ghost Whisperer, The Bedford Diaries, Three Moons Over Milford, Meet the Barkers, The Vampire Diaries) and film (Everyone's Hero, My Sister's Keeper, Rails & Ties).
Tyrone set a record in 2006 at the National Association for Campus Activities for most college and university bookings in the history of the Convention from a single showcase.
Tyrone was born in Seattle and raised in Spokane, Washington. He has said in interviews that he was inspired by his older sisters who "brought out the music in me" but did not begin songwriting until his move to California. While attending Hope International University in Southern California Tyrone joined the band Skypark. Skypark worked with producers Ed Stasium and Thom Roy.
In 2000 Tyrone launched his solo career, playing regular acoustic shows in Orange County, California, where he and a small movement of folk, pop and urban folk artists including Mike Barnet, Danny Vasquez and Jaycob Van Auken formed a loose coalition called True American Records.
In 2006 Tyrone signed a recording contract with Universal Records. They re-released his independent album Hold On on the internet in 2006, and released it in stores on Feb. 6th 2007. On Hold On, Tyrone has worked with producers Chris Karn and Marc Ford.
Tyrone released his latest solo album Remain on January 27, 2009. The first single from Remain, "More," reached #13 on the Triple A radio charts. The second single "Sink or Swim" was used in promos for the season 6 premiere of Grey's Anatomy. Wells is currently touring nationally behind Remain.
On May 2, 2010 Tyrone's EP Metal and Wood was released to the public. Going back to his acoustic roots, Wells aimed at bringing back a folk vibe that can be found in his earlier albums such as Snapshot and Hold On. Along with touring, showcasing both Remain and Metal and Wood, Wells avidly participates in charity acts such as benefit concerts in Santa Barbara, California for Haiti survivors.
