"Somewhere between Cuba, Ethiopia, America and the rest of the world, Los Sugar Kings have been merrily kicking down cultural doors for over 4 years now with an eclectic, electric and acoustic repertoire spanning generations, continents and languages. On Saturday July 16, Los Sugar Kings will return to their roots and bring a traditional Acoustic Cuban Son lineup to the Lizard Lounge. Featuring the intricate bilingual harmonies of Patino Vazquez and Mik Mersha on strings and vocals with master percussionists Amado Rodriguez and Gary Mendoza. Los Sugar Kings will be performing classic Afro-Cuban arrangements from Buena Vista Social Club, Sierra Maestra and others as well as selections from their 3 CDs and an eclectic song list rearranged for this intimate instrumentation. Opening the night will be the amazing singer-songwriter Adam Payne. This is truly a special show not to be missed.
