"the classic American humorist." The New Republic

For at least forty years, Calvin Trillin has committed blatant acts of funniness all over the placein The New Yorker, in one-man Off-Broadway shows, in his "deadline poetry" for The Nation, in comic novels,  in books chronicling his classic adventures as a happy eater, and in the column USA Today called "simply the funniest regular column in journalism."

In QUITE ENOUGH OF CALVIN TRILLIN: Forty Years of His Funny Stuff   Trillin has selected the best of his funny stuff and organized it into topics like high finance ("My own long-term investment strategy has been criticized for being entirely too dependent on Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes") and the literary life ("The average shelf life of a book is somewhere between milk and yogurt. Books by Dan Brown or Danielle Steel may have a longer shelf life, but they contain preservatives.")

In this, the definitive collection of his humor, Calvin Trillin is prescient, insightful, and invariably hilarious.

Calvin Trillin became The Nation's "deadline poet" in 1990, and has also written verse on the events of the day for The New Yorker, The New York Times, and National Public Radio. His books on eatingAmerican Fried, Alice, Let's Eat, and Third Helpingsare classics. He is also known for his more serious nonfiction books, such as About Alice, Remembering Denny, and Killings; his comic novels, such as Tepper Isn't Going Out; and his humorous commentary, most recently in Obviously On He Sails, A Heckuva Job, and Deciding the Next Decider.
