Arkenstone Wine Dinner with Winemaker Sam Kaplan
Please join us on Tuesday evening, August 2 for a very exclusive winemaker dinner with Sam Kaplan of Arkenstone Vineyards in Napa Valley, California.

Sam will be pouring four wines:
Sauvignon Blanc
Osidian (a Cabernet Sauvignon blend)
Syrah
Sticky (a sweet surprise)

Chef Chris Hall will create a pairing menu to accompany the wines while Sam discusses their provenance and what makes each one special.

Price per person: $91.93 ($70.00 for the dinner, $6.81 tax and $15.12 gratuity). A small fee will be added for ticket processing.

A little about Sam & Arkenstone:
Arkenstone named Sam Kaplan Winemaker in 2006. After his first harvest at Pine Ridge Winery and 7 vintages at ZD Wines, Sam arrived at Arkenstone with a depth and range of experience that encompass the many facets of vineyard management, cellarmaster expertise, and winemaking. His coursework in viticulture and enology at U. C. Davis, as well as his fluency in Spanish, anchor this hands-on experience in both the vineyard and the winery. Sam oversees the many seasonal and daily activities at Arkenstone. He is winemaker, vineyard manager and collaborated extensively on the winery project.  

The 2006 vintage was Arkenstone's inaugural release (in 2009). "Ron and Susan Krausz, the owners of Arkenstone, first laid eyes on their Howell Mountain site in 1988. Though the couple had no intention of planting vineyards and building a winery then, both come from families with farming histories; so when a good friend who'd grown up in a Napa Valley wine family encouraged them and arranged for a vineyard expert to evaluate the property, the dream of planting winegrapes and making wine took hold. The expert confirmed what the couple instinctively felt during the seven years they'd owned the property: There was something special about this mountain site." (Copyright © Wines & Vines)
