Julius Caesar
JULIUS CAESAR is not a history play. At a time in our country when partisanship has gone from bombast to blood sport, when patriotism and violence have become commingled, and when the people are so desperate for a leader they will follow anyone who promises them security while playing on their fears, the violent political struggles of Caesar are not history, they are nightly news. Full of passion and intensity, this political thriller about life and death political struggles tells us not only about the dead leaders we see etched in stone or live on TV each night, but also about the people who put them in power in the first place.
Directed by renowned actor and playwright Michael Gene Sullivan (San Francisco Mime Troupe) and featuring a small ensemble cast, African-American Shakespeare Company's version of JULIUS CAESAR highlights the similarities of the politicians who will say anything, and do anything, to win.

Hi! I'm a middle school teacher and wondering whether you do any weekday matinee performances. I would love to bring my English classes to Julius Caesar, but we're not able to do weekends or evenings. |

To answer your question African-American Shakespeare Company offers free student matinee performances. We have a priority listing for targeted public schools; and a minimum administration fee for private schools. If you would like an application please send an email to syoung@african-americanshakes.org. Student matinees are scheduled Wednesday and Thursdays at 10am for Julius Caesar. |

Greetings! I am a college student and I was wondering you offer any student discount or student rush tickets? and if so what shows, dates, and times are they available. |

Sorry for the delay in responding. We do not offer student rush tickets because we have an economy seating price of $10. However, there are other ways to see the performance for free which would include volunteering or ushering. Just call our office to schedule a time to assist! We could always use an extra hand. |
