Combating Cancer in the Developing World
As we look at global health many questions arise. What role does cancer prevention play? What is the relationship between cancer and infectious diseases? What challenges exist in combating cancer in the developing world? What research, medical delivery, policy, and cross-cultural solutions are working to fight increased rates of cancer and to define cures of various forms of the disease?
The World Affairs Council is pleased to welcome Dr. Lawrence Corey, President and Director of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, for an exclusive discussion and networking event on what it takes to address the international cancer epidemic and why combating cancer-causing infectious diseases and addressing immune deficiency, including HIV/AIDS, are essential solutions. Dr. Corey will be joined by a select panel of oncologists from our special U.S. Department of State-sponsored International Visitor Leadership delegation. Our special guests include cancer-care specialists from Egypt, India, Iraq, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Nepal, Oman, Syria, Tunisia, West Bank, and Yemen.
