The Adrian Cervantes Mejia Fund'sInaugural Fundraiser: Desmadre!
An Evening of Art, Comedy, and Music to benefit Adrian's Project.

Arcata, CA (April, 2011) On May 21, 2011, The Adrian Cervantes Mejia Fund, a new grant giving fund for
artists, will host its first ever fundraiser for its first award giving initiative called Adrian's Project. The night willinclude a gallery of visual art inspired by the late, great Adrian C. Mejia (1981-2010), and will feature live
physical comedy and music; the evening will end with a dance party. The main festivities will be from 9:00 pm
12am at 1251 9th Street Arcata, CA 95521, with the dance party occurring from 12am-2am. Tickets are $10 in
advance, and $15 at the door. Limited Cabaret seating will be available for $25 per seat.
"Adrian's Project is an annual grant giving performing arts competition for professional artists in the early
stages of their careers. It helps get shows on the road, fly collaborators in for a gig, and assists in paying for thatrehearsal space. It throws in for the popcorn, and showcases need-to-be-seen performers of all kinds through
residencies and specific travel funding. Adrian's Project changes annually."
The mission of the Adrian Cervantes Mejia Fund is to support artists and the arts with individualized, specific
grants for performing, visual, and interdisciplinary artists of all kinds. The ACMFund views artists as agents of
change. By giving artists the financial help they deserve, the ACMFund provides the impetus for creative
expression, and cross-cultural understanding to the mutual benefit of all people.
About The Adrian Cervantes Mejia Fund
The Adrian Cervantes Mejia Fund was established on Adrian's birthday, in honor of his life, April 27th, 2011
with an initial gift of $25,000 from Eleni Theodora Zaharopoulos, his collaborator, and fiancee. Along with the
dedication and hard work of Adrian's brother, Adolfo Cervantes Mejia, and with the full support of their friends,
David Gail Ferney and Jacqueline Tracey Dandeneau, at Playhouse Arts , the Adrian Cervantes Mejia Memorial
Fund plans to support the arts for generations to come.
The ACMFund is currently located in Humboldt County, CA, home to Adrian's significant adult training as an
actor creator, mask maker, musician, and teacher. Its scope, however, reaches across the country- from
California to New York Island.

About Adrian
Originally from the Southern California city of Riverside, Adrian Cervantes Mejia spent seven years living
intermittently in Humboldt County. He earned his B. A. from Humboldt State University and his M. F. A. in
Ensemble Based Physical Theater from Dell'Arte International. He toured up and down the West coast with the
Dell'Arte Players Company as a guest artist and ensemble member. He brought laughter to thousands of
children in Bogota, Colombia, and Chiapas, Mexico with Clowns Without Borders. He was a cast member for
the San Francisco Mime Troupe two years in a row. He performed in street festivals throughout Northern
Europe with Teatro Pachuco. He was one half of a clown duo with his collaborator, and life partner. In the 9
brief months he lived in NYC he managed to work in over a half dozen projects. Wherever he went, he
impressed people with his incredible talent, and his positive outlook--always speaking of how lucky he was,
how life was a blessing and an opportunity to dream big.
Adrian Cervantes Mejia died in a hit and run in Brooklyn, NY on June 29th, 2010. He was 29 years old. The
driver was never found, and has yet to come forward. His case was closed by the NYPD in January of 2011. He
is survived by his father, his mother, his three brothers, a fiancée, eight nieces and nephews, a very large and
loving family, and a legacy beyond measure.
