The 27th Annual Charles Sawtelle Memorial Mountain Jam
Slow-cooked, Texas-style barbeque, side salads, homemade desserts and micro-brew beers from Left Hand Brewing, Avery Brewing, Boulder Beer Company and Fate Brewing accompany amazing acoustic music at the Gold Hill Inn in Gold Hill, CO for the 27th Annual KGNU "Charles Sawtelle Memorial" Mountain Jam.

A KGNU tradition, "The Charles" is named for Hot Rize guitarist Charles Sawtelle who helped start the event in 1989 and was a great supporter of KGNU Community Radio. After his passing in 1999, the station renamed the event in his memory. This is a family-friendly event for music fans that enjoy mountain air and great food in a spectacular setting.

The festivities get started at 11:30 am and run until 4:30 pm on Sunday, July 19th, and features music sets by Chain Station, Sierra Hull and Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen.

Chain Station is a 4-piece, high-energy, get 'em out on the dance floor stringband from the Front Range of Colorado's Rocky Mountains. They've become known for catchy and lyrically-poignant original songs and their live shows have become that of legend, with energy and stage antics that guarantee one hell of a Sunday afternoon.

Boundaries such as age, genre or otherwise, don't hamper an artist like Sierra Hull. At 23, she's already earned considerable respect in the bluegrass world, as a singer, songwriter and mandolin player. If fact, the IBMA's voting members have nominated her for the Mandolin Player of the Year award alone for the past 7 years - and there's a good chance she will be the first woman ever to win that award. Her music has taken her all around the world from Japan to Jerusalem to some of the most prestigious venues in the U.S. including The Grand Ole Opry, Carnegie Hall and The White House.

Grammy nominated bluegrass band Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen play a wide variety of New Acoustic American Roots Music focusing on bluegrass and acoustic country, yet blues, folk, swing, and jazz also shine through as influences. Powerful vocal harmonies, expressive songwriting, smooth ballads, and instrumental prowess lend this versatile group of musicians to any type of venue. Each member is an inventive powerhouse.

Tickets are $20 for KGNU Listener-Members and $25 for non-members. All ticket prices will be $5 higher on the day of the show. Children 12 and under are free with an adult. Food and beverages are available for purchase; they are not included in the price of admission. No pets or coolers, please.
