Redwood Empire CSI presents "Effective Use of CSI Formats"
The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) is the leader in the development of construction document formats. Beginning with specification related formats, CSI developed MasterFormat which was the first truly effective organizational tool for specifications. SectionFormat and PageFormat followed, along with the ongoing maintenance of Uniformat.
In 2004, CSI released the first global revision of MasterFormat, expanding from 16 to 50 divisions and from 5 digit section numbers to 6 digits. The increased capacity and clearer organization of MasterFormat is being widely accepted by the construction industry. MasterFormat 2004 was conceived and developed to support electronic systems and the move to Building Information Models. Recently, CSI introduced GreenFormat, a tool to help construction product manufacturers be more effective and concise in presenting the sustainable aspects of their products.
This seminar provides an in depth review of CSI Formats and how to use them as effectively as possible.

Presenter:
Architect, specifier, programmer, facilitator, marketer, and educator, Michael Chambers FAIA FCSI CCS has 35 years experience in education, health care, government, housing, hospitality, and sports architecture. Using his broad experience in working closely with clients in pre-design, materials selection, program analysis, post occupancy evaluation, and marketing strategies, Michael offers a diverse perspective on critical design and construction issues both as a technical architect and as an educator. Michael is an architectural graduate of the University of Southern California, registered architect in California, and a Certified Construction Specifier. Michael is principal of MCA Specifications, Construction Specifications Group of Ukiah, CA.
