The Florence Griswold Museum received funding from the Connecticut Office of the Arts to promote this summer and fall's activities at three museums: the Custom House Maritime Museum (New London), the Connecticut River Museum (Essex), and the Florence Griswold Museum. Through the project, the museums will promote their exhibitions, programming, and special events that highlight Connecticut's rich maritime heritage.

On view June 5 through September 20, 2015. All the Sea Knows reveals the diverse ways the sea has been depicted in American art and its connections to the Connecticut shore. A special gallery will unite, for the first time, paintings from MCNY's collection with selections from the Museum's collection that depict ships of the Black X Line. In addition, letters to Captain Griswold from his wife are being transcribed and will be the basis for an online theatrical presentation that will provide insight into the lives of sea captains and those left behind, as well as how the shipping industry affected the entire shoreline community.
