New Voices in Live Performance: CPR's Artists-in-Residence
New Voices in Live Performance (NViLP) is a core program of CPR's presenting series that showcases emerging voices in live performance and promotes awareness and appreciation of contemporary experimental work. As part of the program well-established and emerging voices in the dance community are invited to curate a series of events that include performances, lectures, panel discussions and other activities all open to the public. This summer's NViLP will feature performances, workshops and installations by CPR's Artists-in-Residence Sidra Bell, Elisabeth Motley, Antonio Ramos, and Alexis Zaccarello.

Performances:

Thursday June 11 at 7:30pm  Performances by Antonio Ramos & Elisabeth Motley

Friday June 12 at 7:30pm - Performances by Antonio Ramos & Alexis Zaccarello

Saturday June 13 at 4pm - Performances by Sidra Bell & Alexis Zaccarello

Saturday June 13 at 7pm - Performances by Sidra Bell & Elisabeth Motley

Workshops: FREE

Friday June 12 1-3pm: Antonio Krais by Antonio Ramos

The Class starts with gentle floor work based on the Feldenkrais method. It will be followed by a slow movement exploration allowing each individual to experience their innate movement and affording them the opportunity to listen to what is within themselves. We will grow through the class exploring phrasing based on my improvisations. By adding music, I will encourage the dancers to create their own crazy characters by experimenting the dance in the space.

Saturday June 13 12-2pm  Contemporary Systems- an interior & material approach to movement by Sidra Bell

In Contemporary Systems Bell encourages provocative thought and an immersive approach to the subject matter of the body. Her work demands a high degree of physicality and input from the dancers, encouraging them to execute movement with intention, curiosity, and empathy.

Sunday June 14 12-2pm -  A Workshop Study by Alexis Zaccarello

Zaccarello is interested in sharing her abstraction process. It will require you to go deep into your body, create simple scores, forget scores, respond to desire, improvise, and prioritize motion over memory. Zaccarello is interested in examining how individual dancers' personal agencies and embedded histories can be utilized to abstract and blur an existing compositional structure.
