OLIVIA CHANEY
Back to the Lizard after a fantastic show last February! Described as a 'quintessentially English Joni Mitchell', Olivia is one of the greatest new voices in English folk. An accomplished lyricist and multi-instrumentalist, Olivia is signed to iconic US label Nonesuch Records, home to Laurie Anderson, Emmylou Harris and Joni Mitchell herself. Framing her performance tonight will be the band FLOYDS ROW.

FLOYDS ROW
A fusion of Northumbrian Traditional, Early, and Contemporary classical music featuring Alistair Anderson, Hannah James, Andrew Arceci, and Chris Ferebee.

Developing a varied career as performer, composer/arranger, and scholar, Andrew Arceci performs regularly on the viola da gamba (viol), violone, and double bass throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. In the United Kingdom, he has appeared with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Cöthen Baroque, and Oxford Baroque. In the United States, he has collaborated with the Boston Camerata, Harmonious Blacksmith, Washington Bach Consort, Tempesta di Mare: Philadelphia Baroque Orchestra, Handel Choir of Baltimore, and Musica Sequenza; he currently serves as principal bassist with Boston's L'Académie Baroque Orchestra and Chicago's Baroque Band.

"The opening Grave, with subtle nuances in Andrew Arceci's viola da gamba and overall intricate textures, conveyed the quiet and poised joy of daily thanksgiving." L. Golub, THE BOSTON MUSICAL INTELLIGENCER (May 2014; United States)

"Those responsible for the opulent, plush music of Michel Lambert (1610-1696), Jean-Baptiste Drouard de Bousset (1662-1725), Charles Dollé (c.1700-c.1755), and Antoine Forqueray (1671-(1745) were the ensemble's director Andrew Arceci, who played the melodies on viola da gamba while William Simms and Daniel Swenberg accompanied the gamba's melodies on the theorbo (bass lute) and baroque guitar." B. Plaxen, THE CATSKILL CHRONICLE (November 2013; United States)

"Andrew Arceci brought a lovely tone to the line and matched the dramatic impulses that propelled the superb ensemble playing."
A. Kozinn, THE NEW YORK TIMES (January 2011; United States)

MORE ON OLIVIA CHANEY...
A self-taught multi-instrumentalist and accomplished lyricist and vocalist, Olivia Chaney graduated from the Royal Academy of Music and learnt the guitar from her father's renditions of Bob Dylan, Fairport Convention, and Bert Jansch, among others. Since then she has built a loyal and growing following, both in the UK and internationally, through her acclaimed live performances, as a solo artist and also in collaboration with a diverse range of artists, including Alasdair Roberts, Zero 7, and The Labèque Sisters. In February 2013, she self-released her eponymous debut EP, which has found her further fans with media and public alike. Co-produced with Leo Abrahams, it included the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards nominated-song "Swimming in the Longest River," as well as "The King's Horses," a track that "confirms Chaney's arrival as a major talent," according to BBC Music.
