Dance Shelter 2015
a shared concert of potent dance works by 6 risk-takers

including:  "The Women", reinterpretation of an iconic repertory work by CMC founder Nana Shineflug--blasted from past to present by powerhouse dancers:  Rachel Bunting, Precious Jennings, Mindy Meyers.

new works by noted experimentalists/CMC Artists in Residence:  Ayako Kato and Rachel Bunting.

Kato unveils a new, work-in-progress collaboration with noted interdisciplinary artist Bryan Saner; in "blue fish - 'practice of being', they return to dance's communal, naturalistic, and transformative roots (experienced through the lens of our 21st century selves).  Rachel Bunting performs a new trio that expounds on her surrealistic tendencies; there may be the color yellow, humans with deer heads, and a rising sun.

and premieres by 3 shooting stars on the Chicago dance scene/awardees from CMC's 2014 D49 Festival:

"Hay in Hard Times" by Christopher Knowlton, blends puppetry, props, movement, malaphors, and abbreviated storytelling--to touch on trauma, coping, and conventional wisdom against a loss of identity.  Lydia Feuerhelm (joined onstage by Jamie Corliss) explores aspects of solitude and silence in today's culture--examining our culture's obsession with personal broadcasting and discomfort with stillness/self-reflection, to inquire into individual mindfulness and the development of solitary contentment: "Who do we become when no one else is around?    Joanna Furnans "In the Palm of My Hand" features a lesbian in a flannel shirt doing post modern dance with something "shocking" in her hand.
