"Show me the Love"- Stewarding to Success

Maintaining long-term relationships with donors, not only when your organization needs help, is vital to long-term organizational success.  Stewardship is often minimized as simply what happens after a donor makes a gift and before solicited for the next. Effective stewardship or "donor love" keeps donors at the forefront of your organization's priorities.  Explore stewardship best practices related to thank you correspondence, thank you phone calls and recognition opportunities.  Participants are encouraged to bring a favorite donor letter, and will engage in strategic roundtable discussions. Attendees will leave with specific examples to implement immediately.

Presenter:

Leslie Mehard Brady
Director of Development
College of Health Professions
Medical University of South Carolina

Leslie Mehard Brady joined the Medical University of South Carolina Office of Development in January of 2012 and is dedicated to advancing the fundraising priorities within the College of Health Professions.  During her brief tenure, she secured the largest gift to date in the College's history, a one million dollar investment to establish The Christie Family Endowed Chair in Stroke Rehabilitation Research.

From a military family, Leslie spent most of her growing up years in Hanahan, SC.  She received her Bachelor of Social Work Degree at Winthrop University in 1986 and her Master of Social Work Degree in 1987 from the University of South Carolina. After a ten-year career in Social Work, Leslie transitioned into healthcare Marketing Communications and Public Relations and was then recruited to professional development while working at Inova Health System in Northern Virginia.
Prior to MUSC, Leslie served as the Executive Director of the Charleston Horticultural Society; director of development at both Darkness to Light and Inova Health System.  Leslie is also a graduate of Leadership Fairfax in Northern Virginia and received her Certificate of Fundraising Management from The Center on Philanthropy's Fundraising School at Indiana University at Purdue.

Leslie has a passion not only for donor stewardship but also for the art of embroidery.  She has traveled to Australia to stitch with the best needle work teachers in the world.

She and her husband, Dave, live in Mt. Pleasant with their two cats.
