Bellingham Chamber Chorale to Perform "Mysteries of Christmas" Holiday Concerts
Bellingham - Bellingham Chamber Chorale will present two holiday concerts entitled "Mysteries of Christmas" at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 2600 Lakeway Drive, on Saturday, December 11, at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students, and $5 eighteen and under. Tickets can be purchased at Piper Music, Village Books, The Community Co-op, at brownpapertickets.com and at the door. For more information visit www.bellinghamchamberchorale.org.
The December concert features Benjamin Britten's "Ceremony of Carols" along with a wide variety of accompanied and a cappella seasonal choral works ranging from the Renaissance to modern times and American spirituals.
"We've chosen repertoire for these concerts that showcases the full range of Bellingham Chamber Chorale's artistry," says Ryan Smit, this season's guest artistic director and conductor. "We are excited that Jill Whitman will be featured soloist on harp for Britten's "Ceremony of Carols". Keeping with the theme of the concert, we will perform three different settings of 'O Magnum Mysterium' – a Renaissance setting by Victoria, and two 20th century settings by Poulenc and Morten Lauridsen, plus Lux Aurumque by Eric Whitacre, and other Christmas choral masterpieces."
Bellingham Chamber Chorale is a 40-member chamber choir of singers from Whatcom and Skagit Counties. Now in its eighth season, the highly polished group features music from the renaissance to modern times. The 2010-2011 concert season is directed by Ryan Smit, guest conductor.
