SummerFest Orchestra with Special Guests Ted Rosenthal, piano; Nicole Greenidge Joseph, soprano; Kristen Hertzenberg, soprano
Led once again by Maestro Itkin, the SummerFest Orchestra will be joined by pianist Ted Rosenthal. A perennial crowd favorite, Ted is one of the leading jazz pianists of his generation and tours worldwide with his trio. He has released 15 CDs and his latest, "Rhapsody in Gershwin" (2014) features his arrangement of "Rhapsody in Blue" for jazz trio. The album reached #1 in jazz album sales at iTunes and Amazon. Rosenthal's orchestral performances include solo and featured appearances with The Detroit Symphony, The Boston Pops, The Grand Rapids Symphony, The Rochester Philharmonic, The Pittsburgh Symphony and The Fort Worth Symphony.
Also returning this year is soprano Nicole Greenidge Joseph. A Portland, Oregon native, Nicole has wowed SummerFest audiences for the past several years and has appeared with Siletz Bay Music Festival, Walla Walla Symphony and the Portland Chamber Orchestra. As a concert soloist in the Detroit-area, Nicole has been heard with Oakland University, Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings and Southern Great Lakes Symphony.
New to SummerFest this year is Kristen Hertzenberg, soprano. She starred for five years as Christine in the Las Vegas production of "Phantom of the Opera" and currently plays Dyanne in the hit Broadway musical "Million Dollar Quartet" in Las Vegas. Other roles include Sheila on a European tour of "Hair" and Sophie in Terrence McNally's "Master Class." She has appeared on multiple occasions with the Las Vegas and Abilene Philharmonic orchestras and has also performed a series of sold-out solo cabarets in Las Vegas and California.
Online tickets include a small service fee. To avoid the fee, purchase tickets in person at McCall Drug, Mountain Monkey Business and Paul's Market.
