Janinah is a rising star whose talents have allowed her to grace the stages of Broadway, the Metropolitan Opera, and many of those in between. She played the role of Mimí of Baz Luhrman's hit show La Bohème on Broadway for which she won an Ovation Award. Other performances include, Bess in Cape Town Opera's production of Porgy and Bess at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Norina in Don Pasquale with Connecticut Opera, Violetta in La Traviata with Opera Columbus, Mimí in La Bohéme with Arizona, Baltimore and Nashville Operas, Micaela with Michigan Opera Theater, and Margru in Amistad at the Spoleto Festival USA.

Janinah joined the roster of the Metropolitan Opera in 2008 and has been involved with the operas Carmen, La Bohème, La Rondine, as well as Iphegénie en Tauride with Placido Domingo. She made her Metropolitan Opera debut as Bianca in La Rondine in 2013.

Janinah is also well know for her versatility. She is an original cast member of Marion Caffey's 3 Mo' Divas which premiered at the San Diego Repertory Theater and has recently performed with the Barcelona jazz band at the Llivia music festival in Spain.
Janinah recently sang Leila in the Pearl Fishers with Syracuse Opera for which she became Artist of the Year during the 2010-11 season, as well as Margurite in Faust with Toledo Opera to much acclaim last season. Most recently, Janinah was a featured artist in the opening of Kehinde Wiley's Exhibit A New Republic. at the Brooklyn Museum and is currently covering the role of Pousette in Manon at the Metropolitan Opera. Upcoming, Janinah will star in a new production of John Adams' I was Looking at the Ceiling and Suddenly I saw the Sky at the Rome Opera and perform the role of Lolo in the world premier of the H. L. Freeman opera entitled VooDoo with Morningside Opera.

For her Jazz residency @ the cell, Janinah will play with Joshua Levine on bass, Shirazette Tinnin on drums and Natalie Tennenbaum on piano.
