The beloved and farcical dark comedy revolves around the crazy, unique, and often-homicidal Brewster family and the less-than inspiring local police in Brooklyn, NY. At the center of the family are Abby and Martha, two spinster aunts who have taken to murdering lonely old men by poisoning them with a glass of homemade elderberry wine laced with arsenic, strychnine, and "just a pinch" of cyanide. Living with them is Teddy, their nephew who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt, and the recently returned Jonathan, his cruel brother who has received plastic surgery resembling Boris Karloff, performed by his alcoholic accomplice, Dr. Einstein. Trying to hold everything together is Mortimer, a drama critic, and his recent fiancee, Elaine Harper
