Copenhagen by Michael Frayn

In 1941, Neils Bohr and Werner Heisenberg met in Copenhagen for a discussion that was to end their long association. On opposite sides of the war, Heisenberg was German and Bohr was Danish, the two eminent physicists were both involved with the production of a weapon based on nuclear fission. The content of their discussion is lost because they spoke outside where no microphones were present and after the war they gave conflicting accounts of what was said. Michael Frayn's award-winning play brings the characters together once more to try to understand their confrontation and what it meant to all humanity. The play explores deep and lasting moral and ethical issues while providing a glimpse of the struggle the two men were facing in the darkest days of the war. Presented by SEETheatre and featuring Lucien Leutzinger as Werner Heisenberg, Mindy Pedlar as Margrethe Bohr, and Brian Spencer as Niels Bohr, this production will be staged at the Radius Gallery (Studio 127) in the Tannery Art Center in Santa Cruz. The production is directed by Brian Spencer with assistance from Sue Clow. There will be limited seating and only eight performances.

Production dates and times are: Friday, June 12th and Saturday, June 13th at 7:30PM; Friday, June 19th at 7:30PM; Sunday, June 21st at 3PM; and Thursday, June 25th, Friday, June 26th, and Saturday, June 27th at 7:30PM; and Sunday, June 28th at 3PM. Tickets will be $20 at the door, but may be purchased on-line for $18.

NOTE: This production is part of a joint effort and follows Van Antwerp Theatre Company's' 'Dog Logic' by Thomas Strelich in the same venue in May. Tickets for that production may also be purchased through BrownPaperTickets.
