Vanessa is known for her light-hearted, cheerful, and free spirit. She has been this way ever since her childhood. Vanessa was born in West Islip, NY, where she lived until the age of ten (10) years old. As a child, she was passionate about music, especially the pop genre, and would frequently sing to anyone who would listen. Her family moved to Duplin County, North Carolina, and have resided there ever since. As a teen, Vanessa struggled through the common hurdles which all teens face: breakups, conflicts with friends, and crushes. Vanessa turned to a small keyboard her grandmother bought her, and an electric guitar she received as a gift. She learned how to play the instruments mainly by ear She also played the flute in the concert band in high school. Vanessa has been writing songs ever since those teen days, and continues to write about love, pain, and the in-between. She attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington and received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Music (voice) and also a Bachelors of Arts degree in Communication Studies. During her undergrad, she performed as a lead singer in various cover/original bands, led church services, and sang at funerals and weddings. Currently, Vanessa resides in Wilmington, NC and is pursuing an MBA from Ashford University. In addition, she frequently collaborates with other musicians to create original music which exhibits the realness of her life and emotions, and dreams to write songs in which people can connect and relate.
