World Music Celebration Concert with Simple Gifts
Join Lacawac Sanctuary and Harmony Presents for this fun afternoon summer concert!
Concert start time: 1 p.m.
Two women plus twelve instruments equals one good time when Simple Gifts takes the stage. This award-winning band performs on an impressive array of instruments, including two fiddles, mandolin, hammered dulcimer, recorders, guitar, and banjo plus some more unusual instruments like the bowed psaltery, baritone fiddle, banjolin, guitjo, and doumbek. With sounds that range from lively Irish jigs and down-home American reels to hard-driving Klezmer freilachs, haunting Gypsy melodies, and exotic Balkan dance tunes, Simple Gifts presents their music with a rare intensity and contagious enthusiasm.
This is an act not to be missed!
The concert is offered in collaboration with Harmony Presents (silkmillharmony.com) and is generously supported by The Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts, a joint
effort of the PA Council on the Arts and the Pocono Arts Council.

Come join the band before the concert at the Playing in a Band Workshop!
Bring your instrument or voice and be part of a band in this 2-hour pre-concert workshop! Simple Gifts will address issues of how to play well together, including arranging music, creating harmony parts, improvising, and getting a tight cohesive band sound. Together we'll arrange a piece of music to perform during the afternoon concert with Simple Gifts. All instruments (including voice) and levels (including total non-musicians) are welcome. There's a place for everyone in this band!
Workshop: 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Lunch on your own in Hawley.

Harmony Presents brings new "off -the-grid" indepedent musicians and comedians to Hawley, PA in the Pocono Mountains. We think its empowering for individuals and the general community to discover their new favorite bands and comedians live and locally. We showcase Americana, Funk, Rock, Bluegrass, Soul, Comedy, Classics, Theater and so much more on a weekly basis. Our concerts are typically located in the intimate and historic Boiler Room located on the ground floor of the Hawley Silk Mill. Comedy Nights are featured inside Cocoon Coffee House, which neighbors the Hawley Silk Mill. We hope to see you at our next event!
