8th Annual Chautauqua Revue: An Entertainment In Two Acts
The mightiest little show on earth returns to the North Garden Theater at the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center with presentation of the 8th Annual Chautauqua Revue.  Though more modest in size than the weeklong, regional Chautauqua encampments that graced the American landscape a hundred years ago, the Revue captures the Chautauqua spirit by celebrating the populist zeitgeist through a unique blend of circus arts, education, music, and community gathering.
This yearâs show lives up to the amazing talent that has graced the Revueâs program in past years.  Featured musical acts Faun Fables and Arann Harris both call Sonoma County home; Smirk Irksome presents a new micromusical Apostasy of the Sea Monkeys; risking life and limb, Oaklandâs David Hunt twists, rolls, and swings on the slack rope; Richard Hartnell conjures acts of gravity defiance (!); the ancient art of bodily contortion is undertaken by Ariana; Clowns On A Stick find new ways of taking two steps backward and one forward; Big B and His City Slickers hold forth again as the incomparable Revue stage band; and much more to round out a memorable evening.
Besides the three evening performances, the Childrenâs Matinee has always been a key part of the weekend. The matinees will be on Saturday, September 11th at 2pm.  The Matinee is a shorter program sculpted with the little ones in mind.
The North Garden Theater where the Chautauqua Revue takes place is a one of a kind outdoor amphitheater set above Calypso creek, shrouded by Coastal Live Oak and Bay Laurel, and borders the glorious North Garden of the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center.  With hand sculpted benches and a permanent backdrop reminiscent of equal parts barnyard and Elizabethan playhouse, the venue has been as big a part of the Revueâs success as the performers who grace its boards.
