GEM OF THE OCEAN by August Wilson
1904, the Hill District, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The parlor of Eli, Aunt Ester and Black Mary's home at 1839 Wylie Avenue. Aunt Ester, the drama's 285 year old matriarch, welcomes into her home Solly Two Kings, who was born into slavery and scouted for the Union, and Citizen Barlow, a young man from Alabama searching for a new life.
