Featuring:
Dr. R. Larry Todd, author of "Mendelssohn: A Life in Music"

THE NEW YORK CHORAL SOCIETY PERFORMS MENDELSSOHN'S ST. PAUL
Sunday afternoon, January 25, 2015, 3:00 PM

Carnegie Hall, Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage

The story of St. Paul is full of drama, action, intrigue, murderous plots and miracles. Felix Mendelssohn, the composer of the popular oratorio Elijah, tells the story of the conversion of Saul (later known as Paul) through some of the most beautiful and dramatic choral music ever written. The piece is full of dramatic conflict and passionate devotion portrayed through big choral fugues, Bach-inspired chorales and stunningly expressive choruses. The New York Times called St. Paul "serenely beautiful."  Join us for a performance of Mendelssohn's great oratorio that will be unlike any performance of Mendelssohn that you've ever heard.

Sung in German with English supertitles.

David Hayes, Conductor
Sarah Shafer, Soprano
Haejung Shin, Mezzo-Soprano
Vale Rideout, Tenor
Mark Delavan, Baritone
Princeton Girlchoir
