Crazy Girl Play
'Crazy Girl' is a short play about Forsythia, a 29-year-old agoraphobe actress who lives with her beloved pills and two cats (Cat McConaughey and Cat Le Blanc). When the play begins, Forsythia hasn't left her apartment in 77 days, after her fiancé broke up with her. She talks constantly to her cats, (the only audience she has left), and hatches schemes about how to pawn her engagement ring. The other goal of her life is to get early refills on her many prescription pills.
Enter Dr. Lucas, the patient soul who has her as his patient. They went to high school together, so there is a mutual sympathy there. He is a rule-abiding doctor who worries that treating a lawless pill-popper like Forsythia will cost him his medical license. But he always seems to take her call, hoping that he can be the one to help her in the end. Turns out, the circumstances of their lives have produced a kinship that exceeds the bounds of medical ethics.
Come to be dazzled and slightly devastated by Forsythia, whose soul is nourished by applause and compliments. Maybe you, too, will find the healing you need.
