Vivaldi by Candlelight: The Four Seasons

Vivaldi's Four Seasons is arguably the most popular classical music ever written. The vivid musical imagery Vivaldi paints with a masters brush is mind-boggling, especially considering that the instrumentation is limited to a small ensemble of string instruments. It may leave the listener questioning, If Vivaldi were alive today, what would his twenty-first-century Four Seasons sound like? What would his musical imagery be for drought, floods, and wildfires? How could he make a violin sound like a cracking ice sheet or a pine bark beetle munching away at its vulnerable host?
Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy is delighted to invite the Vivaldi virtuosi to return to the stage after a year's absence and present you with this glorious music. We begin our journey with La Senna Festeggiante (Festivities on the Seine) and travel through the four seasons, concluding the evening with Bach's beloved Air from his third orchestral suite.
And as you listen, wonder, what would the world be like without the Four Seasons or the four seasons?
Featuring: Music director Gerald Elias; Violin soloists Leslie Henrie, Krista Utrilla, Jakob Hofer, and Dallin Hansen; and special guest sonnet narrator Doug Fabrizio, host and producer of KUERs RadioWest, who for decades has been one of the most familiar and popular voices in Utah.
Vivaldi by Candlelight is a signature fundraising gala of the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy and directly supports our programs and mission. A portion of your ticket price is tax-deductible.

Craving live music but hesitant to purchase tickets? We have plans to keep you safe!
After nearly 40 years of Vivaldi by Candlelight concerts, we at UCCD are excited to welcome back an audience of music lovers for this lovely holiday tradition. But we understand if you are hesitant to sit in a concert hall. Here are our plans which we hope will alleviate any concerns you may have.
To honor our values of personal and social responsibility and to keep you safe:
We have limited the number of tickets sold, so there will be plenty of space between you and other attendees.
- Everyone who comes to the door will have to show proof of vaccination or negative PCR Covid test taken in less than 72 hours, their ID, and wear a mask throughout the concert. No exceptions.
- Proof of vaccination may include your CDC COVID-19 Vaccine Card, a photo or photocopy of the card, verification of vaccination on a phone app. Proof of a negative Covid test may include the email or printout of the email. Only PCR test results will be accepted. We will greet each guest outside until their documents have been checked.
- Doors will open at 7:00 pm. The performance will begin promptly at 8:00 pm. This will give us plenty of time to welcome you and help you find your seats. We encourage you to arrive early to allow plenty of time for parking and check-in.
