Pinkies

Rat City Roller Derby is excited to announce our next Pinkies Learn to Skate Camp will be held every Saturday from Aug. 7 through Oct. 9. Each session will be held starting at 9:30 a.m., at Southgate Roller Rink, 9646 17th Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98106. After each Pinkies session, veteran skaters with Rat City Roller Derby will be holding their usual practice until 11:30 a.m., and Pinkies will be invited to stay and watch the regular practice. The first session on Aug. 7 will be a special two-hour introductory class; after that, all sessions will be one hour long.

Pinkies is $100 for the 10-week session for skaters 18 years old and over. Masks are required for all skaters and coaches. This session is open to the first 30 skaters who sign up and pay their fees, so don't wait!

Pinkies is 10 weeks of intensive training for new skaters and for those who have never played derby before. If youve never skated, or the last time you put on skates was when you were in elementary school, this is the program for you. You will learn how to balance on eight wheels, maintain skating form, and keep yourself strong off-skates. If you already know how to skate, we'll we'll refine your skills, and teach you stops and backwards skating.

If you don't have skates, Southgate will have them available to rent to you free of charge! All we ask is that you bring your own safety gear (knee/elbow pads, wrist guards, mouthguard and helmet).
