What Are Saturday Seminars?
"Saturday Seminars" are monthly 75-90 minute online workshops that spotlight the impact of sharing children's learning, offered by storytellers from different communities. Designed as lead-up to the Learning Stories Conference https://hilltopcc.com/institute/lsc21/, these monthly workshops from September 2020 and May 2021 are designed to remind us to pay attention to and reflect on the voices of children. These seminars will feature voices, stories, and the lived experiences from educators around the country.

For the entire lineup please visit https://hilltopcc.com/institute/seminars/

Proceeds from this series goes towards the scholarship fund for the 3rd Annual Learning Stories Conference.

Location: Online! You'll receive a registration link the 48 hours before the workshop.

Target Audience:
Education professionals (admin, educators, coaches etc.) working with children ages 2-11
Social workers
Professional mentors
Psychologists
Community Based Organizations
Headstart / ECEAP
Parents and Caregivers
Researchers interested in this topic

Overview:

Kitties meows, purrs, & nap. But in this classroom, they have discovered how to do math. Dramatic play isnt just a window into childrens learning but an opportunity to enumerate, investigate, & build STEAM skills!

In this 75 minute workshop, we'll revisit Ellie's first Learning Story written 11 years ago along with the family she wrote it for and the framework she used to write it. From Ellie, we'll hear what she learned about the children in her class and how her writing style has grown during that time. From Tom, we'll see how his framework for Learning Stories has grown over the years. From Sarah, we'll hear a parent perspective and understand how this Learning Stories impacted her relationship with her son. From Brayden, we'll hear about his experience!

Why I Should Attend:

It's not very often we hear a story from all parties involved. This seminar offers a chance to hear from everyone involved to better understand how Learning Stories can support us in becoming better observers of children and develop our storytelling voice to joyfully share with the entire community.

Join us for a story that ties together support learners, leaders, families, and community partner all together.
