2020 Tank Solstice--Saturday Night Mollie O'Brien and Friends
On Saturday night, June 22, The Tank's Solstice Festival culminates in a concert with three incredible musicians who work in the deep grain of American music.  Mollie O'Brien, Rich Moore and Hal Cannon work in country, blues, and roots music, a natural for Rangely.  The Washington Post wrote of Mollie O'Brien, "The precision of her phrasing, the smooth flow of her delivery and the sheer beauty of her alto make her one of the best interpretive singers in American pop today." Mollie's 1994 album Away Out On The Mountain was noted, especially, for introducing to folk and bluegrass audiences a little known and then unrecorded songwriter named Gillian Welch.  With guitarist and husband Rich Moore, she's made two studio albums, Saints and Sinners and Love Runner, a live CD, 900 Baseline, and a studio album with their children, Daughters.

Hal Cannon is a longtime musician best known for his Deseret String Band (a.k.a. The Bunkhouse Orchestra).  The group's specialty was researching and performing 19th-century music from the West.  His current band, 3hattrio, plays American Desert Music. Hal's also the founder of the Western Folklife Center in Elko, Nevada, and its famous offspring, the Cowboy Poetry Gathering.

These three musicians will make the 2020 Solstice Festival the homiest, bluesiest ever.
