Richie Cole Trio ft. Peppe Merolla and Brian Ho
The Richie Cole Trio features Richie on Alto Sax, Peppe Merolla on Drums, and Brian Ho on Hammond Organ.  Cole is known for his eccentric and highly energized style - often referring to his approach at "alto madness."  Join this trio as they bop and burn with tunes and arrangements by Richie, a living legend of jazz.

Richie started playing alto saxophone when he was 10 years old in his home town of Trenton, New Jersey. Influenced by Sonny Rollins and Charlie Parker, Coles talent and dedication won him a full scholarship from Downbeat Magazine to the Berklee School of Music in Boston.

His professional career began in 1969 when he joined the Buddy Rich Big Band. And after stints with the Lionel Hampton Big Band and the Doc Severinsen Big Band, Cole formed his own quintet and toured worldwide, doing a great deal to popularize bebop and his own Alto Madness style in the 70s and early 80s.

Now living in the United States, Peppe performs as a bandleader and sideman for concerts and festivals throughout the U.S.   He is a frequent clinician for many colleges and schools.  He has performed at the Umbria Jazz Festival, Pisa Jazz Festival, and Siena Jazz Festiva in Europel.  He has recorded and performed with: George Garzone, John Lockwood, Tim Ray, Russell Ferrante from the "Yellow Jacket band", Harold Mabern , Vincent Herring, Steve Turre, Eric Alexander ,Nat Reeves Larry Schneider, Richie Cole ,Joe Magnarelli ,Jim Rotondi, Philip Upchurch, Bruce Forman, Frank Lacy, John Farnsworth, Eddie Henderson, Steve Davis, Jeremy Pelt, Mike Ledonne, Norman Brown, Gerald Cannon , Dwayne Burno, Pat Bianchi, Calvin Keys, and many others.

Brian Ho began playing piano at the early age of five taking lessons at both Stanford and San Jose State. By the age of sixteen, he began to play professionally and started teaching.   At the same age, Brian had one of the most influential experiences - playing for an African American Baptist Church. This is where he first forged his love affair with the Hammond Organ.    Brian now performs almost exclusively as a Hammond Organ player.    He solos and comps with his right hand while his left hand and feet play organ bass in the same tradition as his organ idols, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Shirley Scott, and of course, Jimmy Smith.  Brian now leads his own group on the Hammond Organ and is an in demand sideman.  While Brian still stays rooted in the tradition of classic Hammond Organists such as Jimmy Smith, Shirley Scott, and Jack Mc Duff;  with his vast knowledge of styles and influences he has developed his own unique and modern take on organ jazz.
