Stand-Up Workshop: District Queer Comedy Festival

Maddox K. Pennington will lead this one-day stand-up and joke writing workshop! Are you an LGBT individual who:

-- Has no idea where to start with joke writing or crafting a stand-up set?
-- Has a particular story or collection of material you want to shape or refine?
-- Wants an introduction to the open mic and comedy scene in DC?

If you answered yes to any of these things, then this workshop is for you! The workshop will give you an opportunity to write, revise, perform, and get feedback on new or refurbished material.

Plus, all workshop participants will get the chance to try out their material at our open mic brunch on Sunday!

Please note, the first floor of the Source is wheelchair accessible but there is no elevator to the second floor where the workshop will be held.

Maddox K. Pennington is the nonbinary author of "A Girl Walks Into a Book, What the Brontes Taught Me About Life, Love, and Women's Work" and when not doing comedy all over the DC area, teaches college writing. They enjoy working alongside comics at all levels of experience, and breaking down stories into jokes, building sets and performing at dive bars and theaters around the city. They've performed at the DC Drafthouse with Jokes that Give Back, Busboys and Poets, Post 41 with Stand-Up Silver Spring, and the Charm City Comedy Festival. You can catch them at the All the Feels Comedy at Union Stage on October 3rd and hosting Health's Angels at Songbyrd on October 23rd.
