1st Annual Pale Fire Pumpkin Derby

That's right, we're racing pumpkins! Get a group of friends together to build and race a pumpkin at the First Annual Pale Fire Pumpkin Derby!

Turn your pumpkin into racer that's fast on the track and pleasing for the crowd! Options to build on site or arrive just in time to race, but come early for Skeleton Festival trick-or-treating, family friendly activities, DJ Fraysh, and Gray Jay Provisions.

Register online and compete on October 19th for prizes and bragging rights. Open to all ages.

OFFICIAL RULES
Craft your pumpkin racer using a single real, grown on a vine pumpkin. (Included in your registration and available for pickup on Monday, October 10th.)
Every racer must have two independent axles inserted through the pumpkin, with wheels attached to the axles.
No pre-fabricated chassis allowed (i.e. skateboard, toy truck, roller skate, Barbie Dream Car, etc.)
Pumpkin racers should not exceed 20" in width to fit the track.
No propellants, motors, batteries, fans, pyrotechnics, explosives, or sharp objects.
Pumpkin racers should not contain additional weights, concrete or rocks. Maximum total weight is 25 pounds.
Racers must complete the race on axles/wheels. Toppling pumpkins will be disqualified.
No pushing or helping your pumpkin racer at the starting line.
No cheating! (What if you accidentally violate race rules and are disqualified? We'll still let you race, but you're not eligible for a prize.)
Build your pumpkin racer at home or at Pale Fire, but all racers must be registered to race by 4pm.

THE RACE
All races are single elimination.
Pumpkin racers will be released at the top of the track at our signal and a racer wins when their wheels cross the finish line.
Pumpkin racers will race in heats down the track. Winners of heats will race and we'll continue until we have an official winner!

A team of judges will award prizes for...
Speed Racer (fastest pumpkin wins!)
Beauty Queen (because looks matter)
Most Creative (follow the rules, but don't be afraid to get crazy!)

And anyone attending can submit a vote for our audience choice award, the Crowd Pleaser!
