Inside the Orchestra: Open Dress Rehearsal and Instrument Petting Zoo (Outreach)
At Inside the Orchestra, the DuPage Symphony's open dress rehearsal, kids can take a musical journey during our 2019-20 concert season. Each event offers kids the opportunity to go behind the scenes with a real symphony orchestra, watching an hour of rehearsal while learning about the process of music making from Maestra Schubert herself. Each concert this season features an award-winning soloist and music that explores various regions of the world. Our kids notes will help them understand the cultural context of the music, learn more about the region - be it Spain, Russia, Japan, Italy, or Germany - and get a stamp in their DSO Junior Passport for a chance to enter a drawing for great prizes. And our travel photo booth will allow them to share their experience with family and friends.
Arrive early (7:00 pm) for an instrumental exploration with the instrument petting zoo provided by our sponsor, Quinlan & Fabish. The rehearsal will begin at 7:30. Around 8:30, the orchestra will take a break and you can join Maestra Schubert, our soloist, and the DSO musicians for refreshments furnished by My Chef Catering, Naperville; visit the Instrument Petting Zoo again, or get in a last minute photo. Admission is FREE for students and subscribers and $5 for others.
As a participant in Arts DuPage Month, the admission for the October Dress Rehearsal is FREE for everyone.
We request that you please RSVP so we have an accurate headcount for refreshments during intermission. However, if you do not RSVP in advance, you can still register/pay at the door.
