Alice Guy-Blaché was one of the first people to make a narrative fiction film. From 1896 to 1906, she was the only female filmmaker in the world. She experimented with sync-sound, color-tinting, interracial casting and special effects. She owned production companies in New York and New Jersey. This producer of over 1000 films was forgotten, on accident or purpose, by the male-dominated Hollywood system. But Guy-Blaché finally has her moment in the spotlight. The story of this amazing woman is a must-see!
BE NATURAL: The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blaché (2019) - a true pioneer who got into the movie business at the very beginningin 1894, at the age of 21. Two years later, she was made head of production at Gaumont and started directing films. She and her husband moved to the United States, and she founded her own company, Solax, in 1910they started in Flushing and moved to a bigger facility in Fort Lee, New Jersey.
