Tim O'Brien, Author of The Things They Carried, on the Shared Humanity of Parenthood with Nick Cassavetes
TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR AT THE EVENT. $20 CASH ONLY. BOOKS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE SEPARATELY.

Tim O'Brien's novels on the American experience-- The Things They Carried; In the Lake of the Woods-- not only linger in our consciousness, but they have entered our DNA. Those novels are such must-reads, they have become part of school curricula for American students. His new book, Dad's Maybe Book, is not a Vietnam novel-- it is not even a novel.  It's a note to his sons, a note written by Tim, whose first breath of fatherhood arrived when he was 58.  So, as he put it, he did the math, and it was "grim." But this book is anything but grim.  It's our best glance into who and what Tim O'Brien is, and is a story about aging, about love, loss, and most of all, what he thinks is important. It's moving, it's funny, and it's a bit bawdy. Don't be surprised if he shatters some myths about great novelists: he reminds us that they make stuff up, and they lie.  A lot.  Not just for money, but simply for the fun of it. It is great to have a Tim O'Brien book again, at last.

In conversation with actor and writer Nick Cassavetes.
