APHA Philadelphia Food Systems Tour
Join us for the 10th Annual Food Systems Tour at APHA! Spend a Saturday afternoon exploring Philadelphia with the American Public Health Association (APHA) Food and Environment Working Group. We'll showcase some of the city's best and brightest organizations working to build a healthy, sustainable, and equitable food system - and end the day with a shared meal.
Tour stops include:
Drexel Food Lab, a culinary innovation lab that brings students into the kitchen to solve real-world problems in the areas of sustainability, health promotion, and healthy food access.
Clark Park Farmers Market, a neighborhood market operated by The Food Trust that provides year-round access to fresh, healthy and local foods.
Mariposa Food Coop, a cooperatively-owned grocery store in West Philadelphia, originally founded as a buying club in the early 1970s, now with thousands of community owners invested in its success.
Deaver Wellness Farm at Lankenau Medical Center, a year-round on-site organic garden that is integrated into community health services for Philadelphias residents.
Lastly, we'll end with an open house and shared meal at 1149 Cooperative, a cooperative restaurant and inclusive community space founded by food makers for social change.
