Social Language Groups - Outdoors for Teens on Autism Spectrum
With grant funding and support from the Philadelphia Autism Project, Let's Go Outdoors is putting a spin on Social Language groups for children, ages 13-16, and taking them outdoors! This information session will give a general overview and logistics of this pilot, FREE, program, as well as allow teens and facilitator(s) a chance to meet and interact. Teens, along with a responsible adult caregiver, can join us for games and socializing, for up-to 4 sessions that will take place during the months of August and September. The following is the schedule:
SATURDAYS, 1:00PM-2:00PM July 13th - Information session. August 3rd and 24th - Social Language Sessions September 14th and 28th - Social Language Sessions
The general format of each session will include a short indoor part focusing on a skill for the day, a walk to our outdoor location to interact and use our skill(s), and a closing/review portion. This program is geared toward children who are on the higher level of Autism Spectrum Disorder/Asperger's. Students must be able to follow directions at a middle/high school level, use verbal language to communicate effectively for their age, and want to socialize with other kids of similar age.
There is no cost to attend this program, but space is extremely limited and registration is required. For information and/or to register, please email: registration@letsgooutdoors.net, or call 866-878-3595.
