Peter Quire Day Celebration Choral Matins @ Anniversary Brunch
All are welcome! Please join us as we celebrate our Founder, Peter Quire, and our 125th Anniversary year with a festive service of Choral Matins (Sung Morning Prayer) followed by a joyous brunch on the lawn.
The Zabriskie Memorial Church of Saint John the Evangelist was founded by abolitionist and missionary Peter Quire in 1875, in the Third Street home of Peter and Harriet Quire. By the end of that year, the congregation had built its first church, in what is now our Guild Hall.
Our current Gothic Revival-style church building, given by Sarah Titus Zabriskie in memory of her mother, Sarah Jane Zabriskie, was consecrated in 1894.
Now, we're laying the groundwork for the next 125 years, with a Roof Restoration currently in progress, thanks in part to the Alletta Morris McBean Charitable Trust, and planning under way for our next phase, Masonry work.
