Board Chair Round Table: Board Member Recruitment: First Step in the Board Building Cycle with Cindy Wilcox
Nothing is more important to the health and sustainability of your organization than getting the right people to serve on your board. But many organizations struggle with this process.
Why is it so challenging? Because the job of building a board is about more than just filling slots. It is about finding people with the values, skills, attitudes that align with the needs of the organization.
Join your board colleagues in a discussion of how to identify and recruit the right board members. In the session, the group will:
Examine leading practices on how to recruit the right board members
Learn and share successful ways to identify the needs of the board and how to find people that can fulfill them
Learn and share ways to build a recruitment framework that will create a process for ongoing, effective board recruitment
About the Presenter
Cindy Wilcox is the Director of Leadership Development and Consulting Services for the Human Services Coalition of Tompkins County. A consultant, facilitator, and trainer, she brings over 20 years of experience in board governance, strategy, planning, and leadership. Cindy is enthusiastic and authentic in her work.
Prior to her current position, Cindy served in various leadership and executive positions in health and higher education administration. She holds a Certificate in Nonprofit Board Consulting from BoardSource. She is also a certified facilitator in total quality management, a certified trainer for TeamSTEPPS System for Healthcare, and a graduate of the HERS Management Institute.
Cindy serves as chair of the board of Unity House of Cayuga County and has previously served on several regional not-for-profit boards.
