Trauma-Informed Care: Making Peace with the Past with Lisa Kendall
Emotional trauma can affect health and well-being across ones lifespan. Trauma affects individuals, families, and communities by disrupting healthy development, adversely affecting relationships, and contributing to mental health issues including substance abuse, domestic violence, and child abuse.

The good news is that trauma is treatable. You can become trauma-informed and resilience-focused to best meet the needs of the people you serve. The use of person-directed, culturally competent, trauma informed interventions can improve quality of life for people and families seeking your help.

This day-long, interactive workshop will provide you with information, insight, and approaches to assist those who have experienced trauma. You will gain a clear understanding of trauma, trauma dynamics, and the core principles of trauma-informed practice.

This training will enable you to reformulate your daily work practice and ask, What happened to you? rather than, What is wrong with you? You will take away information and resources to help you further explore hope, healing, and well-being for the people and families you serve.

In this session, you will:
 - Learn about what trauma is, how common it is, and its
   effects
 - Understand the five key principles of the trauma informed
   care approach
 - Learn common ways unresolved trauma presents itself and may
keep individuals from participating in care and services
 - Learn how to apply a trauma-informed lens to reframe
   symptoms to solutions
 - Learn how to integrate trauma awareness and responsiveness
   into your organization
 - Learn how to create your own trauma-informed care
   implementation team
