THE WORKSHOP IS NOW SOLD OUT
Bach's masterpiece was part of a long-standing tradition of presenting complex, dramatic works with solos, choruses, and instruments, to mark the Lutheran church year. The St. John Passion was first performed on Good Friday, April 7, 1724, during Bach's first year in Leipzig.
Experience Bach's St. John Passion first-hand with Paul Flight and members of the California Bach Society. Paul Flight will offer insightful commentary as we sing beloved chorales and exciting choruses. Workshop singers participate in the stirring crowd choruses during the narrative, as well as in the chorales, familiar and comforting to the congregations in Bach's time. Scores will be provided at the workshop and will be available for download several weeks in advance. Food and drinks will be provided.
