The Machinery: Oppressive Mechanics
Annika B. Lewis / Kassandra Production presents: The Machinery: Oppressive Mechanics
Sunday, April 7, 7:30pm Monday, April 8, 7:30pm
This is a work-in-progress and ARTivistic encounter where everything can happen.
The audience is invited as guests to feast on dismantling oppressive mechanics. Together, we will explore possible strategies through an artistic creative dialogue regarding these questions: How can we change from exploitation to respect, from narcissism to empathy, from destruction to creativity, from pain to pleasure, from consumption to generosity, from oppression to freedom?
The Machinery: Oppressive Mechanics is initiated by the Scandinavian-American performance artist Annika B. Lewis in a co-creation with DC-based fine artist Anna U Davis, sex educator Laura Zam, multi-talented musician Jamal Gray, and Baltimore based dance artist Vincent Thomas.
The Machinery is a collaboration with DC Arts Center, The Danish Embassy and The Swedish Embassy. Supported by Kassandra Production and The Danish Arts Foundation.
