Songs for Solidarity
On Saturday, April 27th, join us for an evening of music, fellowship, snacks, and solidarity! 100% of the proceeds will support several asylum-seeking immigrant families who are currently living with members and friends of the First Unitarian Congregational Society congregation.
One family, a young mother and her son, were separated by ICE and held in detention centers for over two months. First Unitarian provided emergency housing in the church for that family and one other until a more long-term solution could be found. Funds from the concert will cover basic services such as food, medical needs, school supplies, and legal support.
Kolot Chayeinu/Voices of Our Lives a progressive Jewish congregation in Park Slope, is a co-sponsor of the event.
The concert will feature: JUDY GORMAN with Lindsey Wilson and Mario Cancel
"Judy Gorman shoots the arrow straight to the heart; a wonderful singer and musician." Pete Seeger
"Singing with a dark, rich voice, Judy Gorman brought the idea of international solidarity within reach. No small feat." Boston Globe
Rev. Ana Levy-Lyons, First Unitarians senior minister, says our immigrant justice ministry is a powerful expression of our ethic of welcome. We seek to embody an abundant, universalist love and this work is a way to share that love with some of the most vulnerable among us.
