Say Nothing Immigration Initiative table reading of new play

This is a table reading of a new play by veteran actors about the untold story of Italian and Italian American citizens who were interned in concentration camps in America during World War Two. Inspired by true events, Say Nothing, based on the ten times awarded film project of the same name, recounts the journey of the Sereda family through triumph and tragedy in 1940's New York City.

During World War Two over 600,000 Italian immigrants and Italian Americans were declared Enemy Aliens. Several thousand Italians and Italian American citizens were interned in several concentration camps throughout the United States. Ironically, Italian Americans were the largest ethnic group to fight and die for the American military during the war.

The Say Nothing Immigration Initiative is set to promote and raise awareness of this forgotten history through the story of how an Italian American family in 1940 Little Italy, NY, struggled between their love of country and family heritage when their relative is interned in an American concentration camp in Maryland. Their choice to say nothing or to do something resonates today as it did back then. A choice influenced by patriotism, family values, and the hopes and dreams of freedom of immigrants who come here in search of a better life.
