A world-class soloist, accomplished composer, and formidable bandleader, Grammy Award nominated saxophonist Chris Potter has emerged as a leading light of his generation. Potters music showcases limitless creativity and a vibrant sense of swing, prompting critics, musicians, and fans alike to cite him as the one of the finest saxophonists today. The New Yorker calls Potter, A tenorist who can remind you of Joe Henderson at his craftiest, he employs his considerable technique in the service of music rather than spectacle. With an album release in 2019, Potter unveils his new trio, featuring James Francies on piano and Eric Harland on drums. As a multiple Grammy nominee, Eric Harland is known as one of the most in demand drummers of his generation, featured on close to 200 recordings. James Francies is the youngest recipient of the American Federation of Musicians Presidents Youth Award, called a pianist with liquid dynamism in his touch by The New York Times. This pillar of modern jazz, supported by world-class sidemen, pushes the boundaries of jazz tradition.
Even before moving to New York City in 2013, pianist James Francies had generated a well-deserved buzz in the jazz arena. He is the youngest recipient of the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) President's Youth Award, DownBeat Magazine awarded him twice for Composition and Jazz Arrangement, his band opened for the legendary Jazz Crusaders reunion and he performed at Monterey Jazz Festival. GRAMMY nominated pianist Taylor Eigsti describes Francies as, "poised to become a major voice on the instrument. He has the passion, creativity and ability to be a real leader amongst his generation."
Multi-Grammy Nominated Drummer, Eric Harland is the most in demand drummer of his generation. He has already been on close to 200 recordings at his age of 36. Eric has been recognized in the Boston Globe, New York Times, JazzTimes, Modern Drummer, All About Jazz, The New Yorker, DownBeat, Luomo Vogue and other prominent publications. It has been his privilege to share the stage with masters such as Betty Carter, Joe Henderson, McCoy Tyner, Michael Brecker, Terence Blanchard, Branford and Wynton Marsalis, Wayne Shorter, Savion Glover, Bill Cosby and many others, as well as todays up and coming artist like Esperanza Spalding, Jane Monheit, Taylor Eigsti, Julian Lage, Stacie Orrico and so on.
