Motus Meals at CU Boulder: Law Enforcement Leaders Read Do You Know Who I Am?
Please join Motus Theater & INVST Community Studies on March 1 @ 7pm in the Eaton Humanities Building, Room 125, at CU Boulder, for a meal and screening of the film of a special Motus Theaters performance in which local law enforcement leaders (the Boulder County Sheriff and District Attorney, 5 police chiefs - including the CU Police Chief, Ken Koch - and the CU Vice Chancellor for Safety, Melissa Zack) stood in solidarity with Dreamers, to read their autobiographical  stories. The performance Law Enforcement Leaders Read Do You Know Who I Am? disrupted the false associations made between documentation status and criminality and created a platform to further the conversation about the lives behind immigration reform. Given the current debates in our country about DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and about more encompassing immigration reform, this groundbreaking performance creates an opportunity for us to engage in the conversation and stand in solidarity with DACA-recipients in our student body and community.

NPR's Here and Now and American Theater Magazine have both documented this performance's contributions to the national conversation surrounding DACA recipients, law enforcement, and immigration reform. The performance has also been featured in articles written by the Daily Camera and other local news sources.

Thank you to Silver Mine Subs and The Corner for contributing to our shared meal! Please bring snacks to share and your favorite non-alcoholic drink.

Motus Theater producing director, Rita Valente-Quinn, and Violeta Chapin, CU Associate Clinical Professor of Law, will engage the audience in a talkback, after the film.

Come join the conversation!
