Harvey, the 1944 Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy by Mary Chase, features, like Beckett's "Waiting for Godot" a principal character who is ever present but never apparent. Unlike Godot, however, Harvey is a whimsical "forget-all-your-worries" flight of fancy, principally powered by the endearing eccentricities of Elwood P. Dowd, a middle-aged bachelor who, in his own words, wrestled with reality all his life but "finally won out over it."
Elwood is the only member of the cast (or audience for that matter), who can see and converse with Harvey, an invisible six-foot three-inch mythical rabbit. The Players first brought Harvey to the Grange 30 years ago, and there are those local citizens who swear, despite the rabbit's disappearance after the last show of the 1986 run, that he never left. After all, he has the power to stop a clock so that no time passes. It is our joy to try to find out the truth by bringing the show back to the Grange for eight performances in March 2018. ----------------------------------------------- All seating is "open" -- no assigned seats.
