"Home for Christmas" - Downbeat Groove Reunion
The Lansing Music Scene hasn't been the same since Mid-Michigan songstress Jessie Mays (formerly Jessie "Fowlks") of Lansing's most beloved Funk band - "Downbeat Groove", moved out of state to Florida in 2014.
Now, Lansing gets the rare opportunity to see the group together LIVE one more time. This show will include all of your Funk,Jazz and R&B favorites with a Holiday theme, making the night even more special.
Jessie Mays is the Lead singer of Funk / R&B band "Downbeat Groove". Starting with the very first note, the audience becomes enamored with the sultry, gritty and yet silky sound that she releases. Jessie's sound has been compared to greats such as Etta James and Alicia Keys with a funk and jazz twist. Hitting notes high above the atmosphere, this vocalist's trade mark is defiantly her range and style.
But the evening wouldn't be the same without the group Downbeat Groove who of course, is the funkiest around! Downbeat Groove is a major staple in the Mid- Michigan music scene. DBG was inspired by the musical genius and experience of key members Eric Hamilton and Mark Worsham. This group was formed based around an idea that included a strong, sassy woman's lead vocals and a dependable and untouchable rhythm section - and that is precisely what cultivated from just one shared vision. With a full horn-line, Exceptional background singers, Mr. Alan Sloan on keyboards and Ritmo's own Mike Eyia on guitar (to add a sensual Latin feel), Downbeat Groove puts on a professional level show and gives a riveting and explosive performance each time!!!
The night promises to be filled with surprises from fellow local musicians and even Christmas gifts from the band to the audience.
