FAUST on 147th Street
EPOD THEATER COMPANY PRESENTS: FAUST ON 147th STREET, A comedic-drama centered around Poppy, an actress, and Del, a playwright, living in 1999's Harlem (147th Street and Convent Avenue) as they struggle through the various trials of overcoming poverty, addiction, and their romantic relationship to become famous. A life changing artistic opportunity is presented to Del to move to LA to work on a film based off his very successful play, he uses this opportunity to bring Poppy along to start a new "black renaissance" in Hollywood/be the answer to their impoverished problems and repair their broken relationship. Three years later, their relationship turns, significantly, tumultuous as Del's career has plummeted and Poppy's has risen. These characters are supported by the struggling artists and "hustler" archetypes centered around Harlem, New York City, in a tale of "Selling your soul to the devil" in hopes of gaining fame and notoriety. Do fame and fortune solve our issues or perpetuate them even further?
This is being presented as EPOD Theater Company's first full-length theatrical production written & directed by its own Artistic Director, Iman Ward, with assistance by Luis Reyes-Cardenas. With a bright cast: Katchana Agama (Poppy), David A. Wallace (Del), Denise Manning (DJ), Jessica Seley (Tammy), Miguel Flores (Tink), Jean Camille (Jon-Jon), *Billy Gillen (Ro), *Monty Renfrow (Ro), Linda Mendivel (Monica), and Ramon Guzman (Drumming Man/June).
